STRUCTURAL REHABILITATION & IMPERMEABILIZATION OF A FULLY DETERIORATED POTABLE WATER CONCRETE RESERVOIR IN A PHARMACEUTICAL PLANT OWNED BY ACROMAX.

MISSION CRITICAL PROJECT No. 2 :

The reservoir had extensive structural deterioration with multiple active leaks through holes and cracks in the floor and walls, porous concrete, as well as corroded reinforcing steel and steel pipe. Several deteriorated areas had been superficially and improperly repaired with several layers of cement and / or epoxy paint. Extensive surface preparation was performed on all reservoir surfaces (floor, walls, ceiling) where Warren Epoxy was applied. Condition assessment engineering inspections determined that the deteriorated reinforced concrete walls and floors contributed to structural problems, infiltration, exfiltration and water contamination.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

Surface preparation was done with wet sandblasting, supplemented with deep cleaning high pressure wash to decontaminate and rinse. The Epoxy Ultra+® was manually applied with trowels. The average coating thickness varied between 40 and 100 mils of an inch (1 mm and 2.50 mm), and up to several inches in some areas where extensive structural repair was performed.

CONCLUSION

Due to the outstanding characteristics and mechanical / structural properties of the Epoxy Ultra+®, MADERO performed the quality impermeabilization and structural repairs in a timely and cost effective manner, and no safety issues. The reservoir returned to service within the work schedule agreed with the client of one week. MADERO’s Texecution of this turnkey Mission Critical Project was a total success.
